Teachers' Remarks II|Xingzimin PAN: To have the capacity to choose the life they desire
I believe that a crucial aspect of university education is to cultivate the ability of young people, enabling them to have the capacity to choose the life they desire in the future. — Xingzimin PAN
Music and art have a profound impact on the human soul. Musicians and artists are the guardians and engineers of this profound realm. For young students who aspire to enter the realm of music, the heartfelt voices and wise sayings of mentors are their "lighthouses" in their exploration. It's a fortune for students to have good teachers, and it's a glory for the school to have a group of masters. The School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen boasts an abundance of music masters, and we harness their leadership and enlightening roles by implementing the significant and far-reaching "Art Lighthouse Project". The "Teachers' Remarks II" interview series is now officially launched building on the success of the previous column.
The university provides vast knowledge and academic resources, fostering students' critical and independent thinking. By acquiring knowledge from other disciplines and taking part in rich practical activities, students can better discover their true calling and potential, forming an open and inclusive mindset. They will also understand and respect other opinions and cultures, eventually preparing themselves for future development. The university not only imparts knowledge to young people but, more importantly, cultivates their abilities, enabling them to choose whatever life they want to live independently. During their university journey, students will inevitably encounter a range of challenges and pressures. They need to cultivate the ability of time management, problem-solving, and resilience. These experiences will allow students to better adapt to social changes and challenges in the future, making them more confident while confronting these future obstacles.
