Dr. Chao WANG
Lecturer
Chao WANG is currently serving as a lecturer at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Described as 'sounds like a palette' by France Musique Radio, he is a Chinese pianist who won the 'Grand Prix' at the Concours Européen de Piano in Normandy in 2013. He is also a prize-winner of the Takamatsu International Piano Competition (2006); the Muse International Piano Competition in Greece (2008); the Epinal International Piano Competition (2009); the Geneva International Piano Competition (2010); the Artur Schnabel Piano Competition in Germany (2016); the Bukarest International Youth Piano Competition (2004) and the TOYAMA Asia Youth Piano Competition (2003).
He has performed with the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lorraine Philharmonic Orchestra, the Takamatsu Symphony Orchestra, and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. As one of the most active pianists in China, he held individual concert tours every year, covering the Beijing Concert Hall, Beijing Zhongshan Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall, Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre, Shandong Provincial Capital Grand Theatre, Qingdao Grand Theatre, Changsha Concert Hall, Suzhou Bay Grand Theatre, Tianjin Grand Theatre, Shenzhen Binhai Performing Arts Center and other important concert halls in China.
In 2014, his debut album, featuring works by Liszt and Chopin, was released by Acousence Records worldwide. The album is recommended by 'Highresaudio' as 'Listening Tipp'. In 2021, he released his first vinyl album Boulevard des Capucines, which is composed of piano sketches from the impressionist period. This is currently the only album of impressionist works recorded by the Chinese pianist in the vinyl field.
He has studied with Prof. Klaus Hellwig at the University of Arts Berlin and obtained the Konzertexamen certification in 2017. He became the Young Artist of Major Music in 2023.
